Selection Process

Stage 1       Application form   

  1. Used to check eligibility
  2. Used to short list, using history and ergo scores


Stage 2       1st selection trials, Peterborough

  1. Ergo testing
  2. Seat racing
  3. Observation


Stage 3       2nd selection trials 

  1. Crew and team cohesion
  2. Observation
  3. Seat racing


Eligibility to enter Power 8’s

  • You need to be a BR Racing member
  • You need to be 16 years of age or older

And any one of the following (as at 20th May 2019):

  • Born in the Eastern Region
  • Schooled or educated in the Eastern Region
  • Learnt to row in the Eastern region
  • Current member of a rowing club in the Eastern Region
  • Resident in the Eastern region

Eastern Region Counties include: Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire (this includes Lea and Milton Keynes Rowing Clubs)

Costs Involved

Before you apply to take part we would like to be clear about any costs involved. Some costs will be covered by the organisers but please be aware of those that are not covered. 

Your costs

  • Travel and food costs to all the selection and training events
  • Accommodation on Friday 19 July
  • Team evening meal Saturday 20th July
  • Optional extra kit

Our costs

  • An all-in-one and a training top will be provided free by the organisers
  • Accommodation on Saturday 20th July is covered by the organisers
  • Food during the day on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July is provided by the organisers
